Echo Barrier, manufacturers of the innovative solution to on-site construction noise, has been recognised by the Noise Abatement Society, at their 11th annual awards.

The awards acknowledge innovative ideas that have made a positive impact on the reduction of excessive noise in the community. Echo Barrier’s ground-breaking acoustic screen, which simply attaches to temporary fencing to reduce noise by up to 30dB, was highly commended in the Technology category, sponsored by the Institute of Acoustics.

At a packed awards event held at the Houses of Parliament, Peter Wilson, Echo Barrier’s Technical Director, commented: “We are thrilled to have received this national recognition at the end of a year which has seen the product go from strength to strength.”

The UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) estimates environmental noise to costs between £7 billion and £10 billion per year. Echo Barrier screens soak up sound rather than reflect it and are designed for quick and easy installation on standard construction fencing and other temporary fencing. The benefits of reducing on-site noise are considerable, including reducing the likelihood of noise complaints, creating a more productive working environment, and extending site operating hours thereby delivering significant cost and time savings.

The screens are weatherproofed, fire resistant, lightweight yet hard wearing. Because they can be rolled, transportation, handling and storage is made very easy.
